When I'm focusing on one thing only, like dyeing right now because of the dye classes I'm teaching, sooner or later I will begin to get antsy. I NEED to do something different. And so this woven doodle came into existence.
I have a whole collection of diffeent linen and hemp threads for weaving. All so thin, I even use them for stitching and I always wanted to tinker with them on the rigid heddle.
A while ago a friend gave me some weird looking synthetically dyed mawata which I spun as irregularily as I could. From the beginning I wanted to combine it with the white linen.
I experimented with warp density and added tiny bits of twill to the plain weave.
And some other fibres as well.
And finally the chestnuts are falling and I can begin to make laundry soap.
